Yoga is not for everybody!
Energizing Yoga, one of the most ancient system of personal development needs no introduction any more and is becoming popular all over the world because of its tremendous physical and medical profits. People practice Yoga in millions all over the world, thanks to the media which is publishing the benefits for general people.
However, Yoga is a science and it is very complex likewise every other science. One question: ‘Are the exercises safe to be exercised by all persons with different health conditions?’ “It is the crucial question to answer, but we need to examine the subject deeply, otherwise the outcome of exercising could be more dangerous than beneficial” said Subodh Gupta, the Yoga master from India.
”While some of the exercises can be taught simply without much complication and have different benefits, others can be very hazardous for people who are showing problems of Hernia. For example, the postures like Sun Salutation, Cobra pose, Locust pose, Bow pose, Standing Forward Bend and Kapalabhatiare few to name, these can be dangerous if someone has Hernia. These postures may worsen the Hernia problem” said Subodh Gupta, the famous Yoga expert.
Over half a million Hernia operations were performed in the U.S. last year and more than 2 percent of the British people are affected by Hernia, the question to ask is if all practitioners are aware of their health situation and precautions before starting the exercise. The famous pop star, Madonna, practices Ashtanga regularly recently had an operation for hernia (Ashtanga exercise series is a system founded by Mysore based well-known Yoga guru Shri K Pattabhi Jois). In fact, the Ashtanga series which jumping is a part of, can be not beneficial for people with Hernia problems” said Subodh Gupta. Hernia starts building up when the outer layers of the abdominal wall weakens, bulge or actually rip. Among many reasons for hernia normally is straining due to: jumping, defecation, coughing, lifting heavy objects, etc.
‘Are precautions for various exercises safely delivered by Yoga gurus?’ ‘Are the practitioners listening to these precautions?’
“Well, this is a important point to consider by everyone who are teaching and learning and of course for the persons practicing yoga. The students need to understand that their ignorance and lack of knowledge may get them right into an operation room” said Subodh Gupta.
The Yoga gurus from India and the teachers from the West has learnt the dangers of unless the postures are done properly, many people will get hurt without knowing.
